Nightmares

I lay in bed,
I am asleep.
Holding on,
Before I go too deep.

In the numbing distilled silence,
My head is suddenly filled with violence.
Demons raging,
People Roaring.

I was soaring,
Now I'm falling.
From my hushed and quite dreams,
Into the shrieking world of nightmares screaming.

Hands caress me,
Greasy slick,
Eyes undress me,
I am sick.

The world is ending,
Armageddon.
With a lurch I'm back in bed,
Pinching myself to be sure I'm not dead.

My nightmares withdraw,
They have been fed.
