Verbs Are Disturbing These Words

Words have more power than some people see, While paintings have brush strokes, Our pictures are tapped out on keys. Some words are accepted even though they don't fit, And personally I still can't abide it. Why do we 'lose' a virginity? Or 'fall' in love? Why not 'gain' unity Or take our passion 'up' and 'above'? Why do we compare coming together for the first time, As losing some immortalized state? Why compare love to something that makes items Shatter and break? Why are these interrupting verbs, destroying the meaning of these words?

Indifferent to Screams

I'm living for ghosts and cyber friends, Both are intangible, But somehow prevent me coming to an end. They say disappointment is the child of hope, Perhaps it is lucky my dreams have gone up in smoke. The fists don't even hurt as I'm pummelled to the ground, My screams don't even make a sound. How are they so loud? I hear it clearly, But no one else sees how their indifference Is killing me.

Six years of study, For a certificate to validate my worth. Six years of suffering, On this beautiful blue earth. Six years of learning, The futility of life, Six years of filling my heart with strife. Now I look back at years of tears misspent. At times when my battered heart bled. It feels so distant, but the future's so far. I realize now that we aren't meant to know who we are. Am I a teacher, a doctor or nerd? Am I a fool? What have I learned? I've learned to regurgitate Newton's First Law, The reason behind every genetic flaw, The names of the men who helped the slaves be freed. Quadratic equations I'll never need. I've learned that

It was something special. Like a forecast for what was to come. That soft feathered thump-thump, Too weak to be a drum. At first I heard the clumsy footfalls, And untrained stumbling steps. Followed by the tumbling, At which you were quite adept. Then slowly came another sound; A whoosh, a pause, a skitter. Skipping ropes at the playground, Excited eyes sparkling like glitter. That fades to a steady stomp, Rhythmic like a song. Not one note dared step out of line, But in a moment that too was gone. Silence for a second, Like a lull before a storm Then back into the throng, With a violent whirring roar. One final sound is heard, It chills

Am I writing a Suicide Note...

Am I writing a suicide note? I don't know, I haven't decided yet. Maybe I need a final blow, Before I'm ready to forget. Maybe I need to drown some more, Before I can let go of those people, I've held out so long for. What right have I to die? My first world problems are easy to deny, My petty problems burying me, The internet keeps going down and there's nothing on TV. Still it's more than that, It's this long drawn out silent scream. It's the fact I'm letting people get attached, While I unpick my own seams. I'm so selfish I've been to Lourdes and seen people carry on. I whisper through your treasures, Judge them for their worth, Seal away any trinkets I manage to unearth. From a distance, I examine the target. Weigh up the chances of success, And then profit versus expense. After preparing, I play pretend at being nice, I smile handsomely and seduce you, While clutching a hidden knife. You fall so easily into my arms, It takes little effort, With my well rehearsed charm. With your alarms disabled I proceed to steal your heart, and feed on your love Until I'm sated and you lay there Breath bated. Under the cover of darkness, I'll leave you.
